The acai berry seems to do everything—it can help you lose weight, can improve your digestive system, includes a huge amount of vitamins, antioxidants, and fibre, and much more. One study showed that patients dealing with leukaemia who ate the acai berry regularly had significantly less infected cells than those who did not. Patients were given one of six different mixtures featuring acai berry extract, and four of these six proved very successful. Of course, follow up studies need to be done before it can be certain that the acai berry helps with leukaemia. However, the fact that the acai berry helps speed up a person’s metabolism increases the efficiency of their digestive system, and has a high level of antioxidants all point to it being beneficial to those with diseases. Of course, since metabolism varies from person to person, the berries effects will not always be the same.
