The T Mobile G1

I love gadgets and I’m seriously excited by the announcement and pictures of the Google’s forthcoming Android phone. In actual fact, calling it an Android phone is a little misleading, because it is the platform that runs the phone which is called Android, not the phone itself. The handset is in fact a T Mobile G1 phone. The whole package is being billed as the gPhone, so that’s who I’m tempted to refer to it from here on in (if only because it’s a lot simpler that way!).
What’s really nice about the gPhone is that is it so darn practical. It has a full QWERTY keyboard, a home key and even a track ball. Whatever you think about the look of the gPhone compared to the look of the iPhone, you will agree that it is a lot more functional. This, I think, where the potential markets of the two phones bifurcate.
The cost of the gPhone is also pretty attractive: apparently we’re looking at around $179 when it is released in the US next month. The gPhone will reach Europe at year end. In the meantime there are plenty of great looking pictures around to look and wait with anticipation!
